About Me
I first got into music when I was a child listening to my parents’ collection. I was brought up on the magic of the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac and Phil Collins to name a few. It was when I was teenager in the 90s that I developed my love of bands like Oasis, Pulp and Suede. Music was everywhere and everyone was all about Indie music!!! I never liked the term Brit Pop.
My first gig at 14 years of age was Oasis at Knebworth which is still today regarded as one of the best gigs of all time. I was there to watch music history with such great bands including Manic Street Preachers, Ocean Colour Scene, Prodigy and the Chemical Brothers!! It was an amazing experience and one that has encouraged my passion of music ever since.
Alongside my love of music is food!! I love to cook, eat, think about food, dream about food and talk about food. I was lucky enough to be selected to take part in the TV show, Come Dine With Me, which was filmed in Basingstoke in 2021. I was able
to share my passion of food with others. It was always an ambition of mine to be on the show and I was delighted it came true. I promised my late mother I would do it – and I did!
Hobbies
When I am not going to gigs and cooking, I love to go fishing. I am an avid angler and any chance of wetting the line I will be there, whether it be on a boat in the Solent, on the canals in France or in a bivvy next to the lake. I love the outdoors and the peace harmony fishing brings.
Fun Fact
I use to play Roller Hockey and stood about 6,8 with skates on!
Why you like presenting for Basingstoke Community Radio?
I have always wanted to be on the radio. Radio is such a personal interface. I have laughed, cried and had many fond moments listening to the radio. Some of my favourite radio personalities are Chris Moyles, Mark and Lard and Steve Lamacq.
I saw an advert that Basingstoke Community Radio were looking for presenters and I decided to apply. The timing was perfect. Basingstoke is my town – I have lived here my whole life. I wanted to do something to give back to the community. The radio
station is a family – we all have the same beliefs about helping people and giving back to our community whilst having fun. I love the live events, meeting the listeners and talking music and ‘Basingstoke’ with them. Its great getting local businesses and charities into the studio for interviews sharing with us all what they do in our community.
