Stephen has always had an interest in writing and performing. He is an amateur author having published three novels and two books for children, and a regular performer on stage with Silchester Players.
From a very early age he was winning school prizes for reading poetry and has developed a lifelong interest in literature. His programme is ‘Poems for Pleasure’ in which he introduces the listener to the lives of many different poets and reads a selection of their works, including many favourites. The poetry readings are accompanied by musical selections which tend to be classical or operatic but sometimes with other surprising tracks thrown in.
Stephen also includes in his programmes the winning entrants from the various categories in Basingstoke Music and Arts Festival creative writing section, providing a showcase for local literary talent.
